Programs
During the last twenty years, Richard
Winters has started literally hundreds of horses that have gone into
virtually every discipline imaginable. He has also worked with volumes of
"problem horses," helping them to become better partners with
their owners. Much of Richard's work has been done through the numerous
clinics he conducts around the country. While he continues to conduct
these hosted clinics, you now have an opportunity to learn in-depth about
the man, his philosophies, methods, and communication skills in a relaxed,
uninterrupted environment in programs held at Winters Ranch.
Richard and his wife Cheryl have
converted their 1,000-acre high desert ranch in northeastern California
into a comfortable learning center complete with wonderful guest accommodations,
a large outdoor arena, and a 6,000 square-foot barn housing an indoor
round corral. Here they have developed the perfect environment for people
to enhance their horsemanship skills - the well-rounded kind of skills
that benefit both horse and rider not only in the arena, but outside in
the everyday world of horses, people and cattle.

Horse
Training
Over the last 20 years Richard
has started literally hundreds of horses that have gone on to a myriad of
equine disciplines. From Quarter horses to gaited horses and Arabs to
Appaloosas. Richard starts horses with a solid foundation that will last a
lifetime. Much of Richard's time is also given to "behavior
modifications" of older horses. Horses that have had bad experiences
or horses that were never started properly benefit from Richard's
horsemanship techniques. Winters Ranch is a great environment to give your
horse a well-rounded education and teach them a little "ranch
etiquette." Contact us for more information about training your
horse. top
Horsemanship Clinic
Advanced Horsemanship Clinic
Richard's
Horsemanship Clinics are designed to help riders of all disciplines.
Western or English, Competitive riders and Pleasure riders all benefit
from Richard's enhanced equine communication skills. These clinics involve
establishing trust and respect on the ground, with horses being “great citizens” on the end of a lead rope. Trailer loading
issues with each horse and handler are also addressed. The riding
exercises are practical and instill confidence in each rider’s
abilities. Focused riding, rein management, control and handling spooky
situations are just a few of the areas covered. Richard is also eager to
tailor clinics to you and your group’s personal needs and desires. Check
out our scheduled clinics.
